In 2009 a landslide caused a breach in the canal system in Logan, Utah. The water from the canal has since been diverted to another part of the system. However the cities of Cache Valley, Cache County, and the Natural Resources Conservation Service have been exploring a permanent solution to the issue. On Oct 3, 2011 the preferred alternative was announced and now the communities are proceeding to the design phase of the project that will hopefully have the water restored by 2015.
