What happens to people who have served time in jail or prison once they get out?

Utah’s counties and sheriffs are working to bring the programming model to jails around the state; to help people who are in jail by teaching life skills that will help them when they return to society. In contrast the warehousing model seems to promote learning how to survive in the system from other inmates.

Jail programming isn’t a new idea, but it has come a long ways over the past 40 years or so. The research seems to point to a more successful inmate when they learn something while they are incarcerated cutting the recidivism rate.
