Segment 2: Oil Sands, S2 EP39 part 2

The process being used in the Uintah Basin is an evolution on the technology used in Canada over the last 50 years. The new technology uses a solvent to separate the oil from the sand which has cut out the need for tailings ponds and allows the operation to recycle their water. The end result is an operation that can work off of a smaller footprint, higher efficiencies, and environmentally responsible. Oil Sand development in the Uintah Basin will bring an economic benefit to the area, and pay royalties to the permanent trust set up for Utah's schools.
