Season 1 Episodes

Segment 1: Redistricting in Utah

Every ten years the lines are redrawn to determine who is represented by whom and every ten years there is controversy brought up by the minority party. The goal of the legislature is to come up with a scenario where every person gets one vote and are as equally represented as possible. It's not as easy as it sounds, Malia Bascom reports on how the redistricting process is taking place this year in Utah.

Segment 2: Redistricting in Utah: Round Table Pt. 1

Derek Dowsett, the producer of the County Seat, sits down with Chris Sloan, the republican chairman for Tooele County, to talk about how the redistricting lines that are being drawn effect the rural counties of the state. The two models that have been discussed on the hill look at creating an urban district that is surrounded by the rural districts (doughnut hole) or creating districts that are part rural and part urban (Pizza Slice).

Segment 3: Redistricting in Utah: Round Table Pt. 2

This portion of the conversation talks about the partisan politics that have been discussed in the media. Along the Wasatch Front the battle between the two parties has been fairly nasty while in the rural counties the focus has been on what is best for each of the counties as a whole.

Segment 4: Redistricting in Utah: Round Table Pt. 3

We end the show by talking about some of the noise that has been made up on Capitol Hill the past week. While there are people making noise, the group isn't very large. It's important to take what we see in the media with a grain of salt.
