The Utah Prairie Dog is a threatened federally protected species under the Endangered Species Act. They currently live in 9 of Utah’s Counties. The federal protection of the Prairie Dog is creating trouble for farmers, local governments, and the state agencies that are in charge of managing their populations. The species is moving towards recovery, but there are some private lands that they have moved into around Iron County where they have become an unwelcome Nuisance.
