Drought is a natural disaster that can sneak up on you. For communities in Utah’s desert south east drought is a way of life but what can be done to make sure there is enough water to keep important agriculture and ranching operations in business? What can be done to make sure there is enough water for people to live in the desert?

In the case of Utah’s dry 2013. The timing of when we have received precipitation has had the most affect on farming and ranching operations in the state. Randy Julander, the Snow Survey Supervisor, points out that it may be too many trees in the forest creating some of the changes we are seeing in Utah’s watersheds.
