Segment 1: Secretarial Order 3310 "Wild Lands" Scope
We've talked about the order signed by the secretary of the interior, Ken Salazar in December of last year a few times on the show. This directive told all of the BLM offices across the nation to go out an re-inventory lands and analyze it for wilderness characteristics. The idea being to manage it for it's wilderness characteristics until congress could decide what to do about it. There are a lot of people that think they are not following the letter of the law, while some people think it's a pretty good idea. Regardless of which side you fall on, it has brought contention.
Initially the Utah Association of counties filed a lawsuit to challenge it and after consideration and review the state also filed a lawsuit to challenge it. And these haven't only created controversy here, but they have created controversy in surrounding states.
