A couple months back I had the opportunity to tour the State Prison at Draper with some other media agencies. I overheard one of the inmates in an interview volunteer to be moved out of the prison rather than have the state undertake the expense of moving the facility.
Our producer for At Your Leisure suggested building the Prison on Antelope Point or building an island prison.
Everyone has their own ideas of what should be done or where the prison should be located. (at least that’s my guess)
This week on the County Seat we will be discussing the relocation of the Prison in Draper with Senator Jerry Stevenson and Tooele County Commissioner Shawn Milne.
Tooele, Utah, and Salt Lake Counties all made the short list for possible locations at the PRC meeting on Dec. 22nd, so what comes next? Our guests will discuss some of the finer points of what needs to be taken into account as a new site for the prison is selected.
