In our round table discussion, Chad and representatives from Tooele County talk about how industrial trucks that drive on a county road are quickly wearing out that road. Who should pay for the maintenance of that road, the county or industry? Industry officials say they already pay a high fuel tax surcharge to help subsidize the repair of roads, but the State keeps most of that money and the county sees very little.

This week on The County Seat, we discuss management of county roads with representatives from Tooele County, but first, we take a look at State Highway 14 near Cedar City which was closed off due to a landslide during the winter. The closure of this road has had a big impact on the counties that are connected by it, and they’re very glad to have it reopened.
