Derek Dowsett is the Producer of the County Seat. Now entering his 11th season of the program, he has received what he considers a "Crash Course" in County Government.

If the pen is mightier than the sword, what is mightier than the pen?

I would suggest that the vote may be mightier than the pen. What do you think?

Is it just becoming too easy to vote?

This week on the County Seat we have a special video to share that was produced for the Utah Association of Counties that very simply lays out the elected county offices. I felt this was a great way to start off a conversation about the upcoming elections because so few people really know the function of an Auditor, Assessor, Commissioner, etc. If you haven’t seen this video yet, it’s a lot of fun Watch Here.

The rest of the program focuses on elections and voting with our guest Lieutenant Governor Spencer Cox.
We discuss the importance of voting particularly in local races where races can be won by just a couple votes (just look at how close the primaries were this year in some of the counties). We will also discuss the move that some counties are making to Mail-In Ballots.

Did you know Davis County recently made the switch to Vote By Mail?
