Derek Dowsett is the Producer of the County Seat. Now entering his 11th season of the program, he has received what he considers a "Crash Course" in County Government.

About 1% of the population is responsible for feeding America but when it comes to policy decisions how do those farmers and ranchers make their voices heard among a sea of competing interests?

This week on the County Seat we will look at an organization that works for the people who feed America. The Utah Farm Bureau Federation is made up of Farmers and Ranchers as a means to bring local issues to policy makers at every level of government.

Issues of particular concern to the agriculture community involve water and certainty. Chad Booth will sit down with Randy Parker, the CEO of Utah Farm Bureau and Sterling Brown, Vice President of Public Policy for the Utah Farm Bureau; to discuss federal policies involving jurisdiction over water as it relates to waters of the United States and water that falls on publicly managed lands.
